The number of Americans filing first-time claims for unemployment insurance fell more than forecast last week, indicating an improving labor market.
Initial jobless claims fell by 22,000 to 391,000, the Department of Labor said on Thursday. That was a steeper decline than economists’ expected, bringing the four-week average for new claims down to 402,000. Continue reading
